Description

AWE Tuning Research and Development has yielded an exhaust that is remarkably civil while idling/part throttle cruising, but unleashed at full throttle produces what some have called a "war-cry wail." The Touring Edition Exhaust features our proprietary sound canceling technology, 180 Technology, providing the perfect tone, minus the drone. Performance driven sophistication: a direct bolt-on, straight-through design, delivering a smooth soundtrack throughout the range.

As exhaust gases exit the 4.0T engine and flow into an AWE Tuning 180 Technology equipped resonator, they pass through strategically located ports, and into reflection chambers. Sound waves, carried by these exhaust gasses, bounce off the walls of the reflection chambers. By controlling the size and location of the ports and the chambers, we also control when the sound waves exit the chambers. The specific timing of when the reflected sound waves re-join the main exhaust flow creates a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree out-of-phase sound wave that cancels out problematic frequencies.

Since the Touring Edition Exhausts don?t require the use of the S6?s factory valves, they?re eliminated. When this happens, the ECU stores what is known as a ?soft code?. While this code is not harmful, who wants it? Enter the AWE Tuning Electronic Valve Simulators. These simple devices plug right into the factory harness in place of the exhaust valves, and prevent any code from ever being stored in the ECU due to the removal of the exhaust valves. Plug them in. Start it up. Drive away. That simple. Comes as a set of two.

Looks like I get to be the first review for these guys. Let me start out by saying that I have had 3 other cars of a similar caliber to my GTR serviced/worked on and upgrades installed at other shops and none took the pride and level of detail that these guys did. I wish I could see all the welds on the downpipes and exhaust because it looked like artwork. Their fabricator made sure to send me daily updates and pictures which was also a big deal to me. For being an out of state experience it made it seem more like they were local to me and that I had known them for longer.
