Do it!!!!
2006 Cummins, tuner, 156k. We all know the one parameter Dodge does not watch, fuel pressure, is the ultimate insurance to protecting your cp3 and injectors. My truck was doing fine on rail pressures until I moved to Edge Juice settings 3-5. Add Big Line kit and necessary sensor for fuel pressure. Stock lift pump makinng 7.5-8.3psi in my inclined driveway. On flat ground stock pump 9-9.5psi. Juice power level 3 with low boost response set at 5, the truck was tanking fuel pressure to 4psi. CP3 KILLER. After a lot of research, I found this stellar part. When you push liquid, there may be nominal aeration of fuel which is mitigated by the high pressure system. When you suck fluid, there is no avoiding aeration which requires additional parts to mitigate. Install does not require surgery to bulkhead as it is an entire replacement unit. Wiring a cinch(4 door shorted, enough wire to route to passenger battery to avoid congested primary battery). No fuel line work necessary. Stock lines tranfer over, you do have to move the two plastic clips for the connections over from factory bulkhead. I had a quarter tank of fuel. Do your best to run the tank as low as possible or transfer fuel out. I had help, but a quarter is an extra 50lbs or so that moves. Also, drain fuel filter cannister completely to avoid back drain of fuel towards the tank, your new pump will fill that cannister in seconds with the first turn of the key to ON not START. You will hear it. WARNING- tank ring install-mine came right off, back on different story. This is not an armstrong procedure. It is an attack angle procedure. As shallow as possible with light taps is how it ended up going back on. Result- At 20psi +/- yoiu will find any loose fuel fittings. I highly suggest a Glowshift Big Line Kit (1/2 line from fuel filter to cp3, $45) while youre at it. My truck has never been so quiet. That means the pump/injectors have been semi-starved for longer than I care to know. You will notice smoother and more quite idle, more immediate and smoother throttle response, and zero fuel starvation. This pump might as well be silent. Hardly any extra noise overstock lift pump. I have now tested with Edge set on power level 4 and 5 with low boost response set at 5 on both power levels(stock injectors, upgraded HE351) and the absolute rock bottom FP has been 18.4psi, zero rail pressure tanking, and immediate recovery of FP from 18psi right back to 20-21psi (my readings derived from sensor between filter can and CP3). This is on your factory pinner supply/return lines. YOU CANT GO WRONG!!!!!!!! Last, but not least, Elite had this to my door in 3 days un-expedited.
