The semi-metallic friction formulation provides consistent braking performance, dependable wear resistance and strong heat-handling characteristics, making the series especially well suited to everyday driving and colder operating conditions. The copper-free, 100% asbestos-free formulation is engineered to provide reliable braking while remaining rotor friendly.

R1 Semi-Metallic pads use integrally molded friction material with rubber-steel-rubber noise-control shim construction, a friction underlayer, positive molding and scorched friction surfaces. Pad shapes are slotted and chamfered where applicable. Exact pad quantity, mounting-hardware requirements, wear-sensor requirements and brake position vary by vehicle and should always be matched to the individual R1 part number.
