Air Lift Suspension: Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will adding Air Lift springs increase my vehicle's weight rating (GVWR)? A: No. Adding air springs does not change the manufacturer's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. They are designed to support the existing weight more effectively, improving stability and ride quality, but you should never exceed your vehicle's factory limits.
  • Do I need an on-board air compressor for my air bags to work? A: A compressor is not required—you can use manual "Schrader" valves to fill them at a gas station. However, an on-board management system is highly recommended for convenience, allowing you to adjust pressure instantly based on your load.
  •  What is the minimum air pressure I should keep in the bags? A: You should always maintain at least 5 PSI in your air springs, even when the vehicle is unloaded. This prevents the bags from "pinching" or rubbing, ensuring a long lifespan.
  • Can Air Lift kits be used on vehicles with factory lift kits?
A: Yes, but you may need Air Spring Spacers to account for the increased distance between the frame and the axle. We stock 2", 4", and 6" spacers to ensure a perfect fit for your lifted truck.
  • How long do Air Lift air springs typically last? A: When properly installed and maintained with minimum air pressure, Air Lift springs are designed to last the life of the vehicle. They are constructed from high-quality reinforced rubber similar to commercial semi-truck tires.
